Myriad Genetics (NASDAQ: MYGN) and SOPHiA GENETICS (NASDAQ: SOPH) announced a strategic collaboration to develop a global liquid biopsy companion diagnostic test for pharmaceutical companies, according to a press release statement.
The partnership will combine Myriad's laboratory capabilities in the United States with SOPHiA GENETICS' network of more than 800 connected institutions across more than 70 countries for global test deployment and clinical trial support.
The companies will initially focus on MSK-ACCESS powered with SOPHiA DDM, a liquid biopsy test developed with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center that detects genomic alterations from blood samples using circulating tumor DNA analysis.
Myriad will handle regulatory submissions in the United States, while SOPHiA GENETICS will manage submissions outside the United States. Both companies will collaborate on development activities to provide pharmaceutical partners access to regulated markets globally.
"We expect this collaboration with SOPHiA GENETICS to support the development and global commercialization of comprehensive CDx solutions for our BioPharma partners," said Sam Raha, President and CEO of Myriad Genetics.
Jurgi Camblong, Co-founder and CEO of SOPHiA GENETICS, stated the collaboration "represents a pivotal moment for the industry" by combining "the complementary strengths of a specialty lab leader and a global testing network."
The companies will participate in a panel discussion at the World CB and CDx Summit in Boston to provide additional details about the collaboration.
