Mineralys Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: MLYS) has appointed Kristine Peterson and Lonnel Coats to its board of directors, according to a company statement.

Peterson brings more than three decades of biopharmaceutical experience, including roles as chief executive officer of Valeritas, Inc. and Company Group Chair of the Biotechnology Group at Johnson & Johnson, where she led operations in oncology, immunology and cell therapy. She also spent 20 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb, including leading its cardiovascular and metabolic disease business unit. Peterson currently serves on the boards of ArriVent BioPharma, Enanta Pharmaceuticals and Immunocore Holdings.

Coats also has more than three decades of experience in commercial pharmaceutical organizations. He most recently served as chief executive officer of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals and previously held leadership roles at Eisai Inc. and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a division of Johnson & Johnson. He currently serves on the board of Relay Therapeutics.

Chief Executive Officer Jon Congleton said the two appointments are intended to support the company as it prepares for the potential approval and commercial launch of lorundrostat, its investigational aldosterone synthase inhibitor candidate for uncontrolled or resistant hypertension.

Mineralys, based in Radnor, Pennsylvania, is developing lorundrostat to address hypertension and related conditions including chronic kidney disease and obstructive sleep apnea.
