MainStreet Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNSB) announced Monday the promotion of Alex Vari to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MainStreet Bank.
Tom Chmelik, Chief Financial Officer of MainStreet Bancshares, Inc., said Vari has demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and regulations, ensuring accurate financial and Securities and Exchange Commission reporting. Vari also led the development and implementation of the company's Sarbanes-Oxley internal control framework as the company transitioned away from emerging growth company status.
"I'm excited to step into my new role," Vari said. "My time working closely with Tom has given me a deep appreciation for the financial foundation and talented team we have here."
Jeff W. Dick, Chairman and CEO of MainStreet Bancshares and MainStreet Bank, said Chmelik will continue as CFO of the holding company. Dick noted that Chmelik has mentored Vari since he transitioned from public accounting to his role at MainStreet Bank.
Vari earned a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of North Dakota and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is also a graduate of the Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management.
MainStreet Bank operates six branches in Herndon, Fairfax, McLean, Leesburg, Clarendon, and Washington, D.C. The bank offers business and professional lending products, including government contracting lines of credit, commercial loans, and construction financing.
