Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) and Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) announced a collaboration to offer Zepbound single-dose vials for pickup at Walmart pharmacies nationwide by mid-November. The partnership marks the first retail pickup option for LillyDirect's direct-to-consumer pricing program.
Zepbound vials will be available in all approved strengths through the collaboration, with the lowest dose priced at $349 per month and higher doses at $499 per month for self-pay customers. The pricing represents what the companies describe as a 50% or greater discount compared to list prices of other GLP-1 medicines for obesity.
Patients with valid prescriptions can access the medication without using insurance through either home delivery from LillyDirect or pickup at Walmart's nearly 4,600 pharmacy locations. The collaboration allows prescriptions to be routed directly to LillyDirect Self Pay Pharmacy Solutions through healthcare providers' electronic health record systems.
According to the announcement, approximately 35% of new Zepbound prescriptions were fulfilled through LillyDirect's self-pay option in the second quarter of 2025. Zepbound is an injectable prescription medicine containing tirzepatide, approved for adults with obesity or overweight individuals with weight-related medical problems, and for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea with obesity.
"This collaboration with Walmart is designed to reduce that burden by streamlining access to prescribed treatment," said Jennifer Mazur, senior vice president and general manager of LillyDirect, according to the press release.
Kevin Host, senior vice president of Pharmacy at Walmart, stated that the partnership will "help people discover new, easy ways to get their medication" through the company's network of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
