Liberty Global (NASDAQ: LBTYA, LBTYB, LBTYK) and Google Cloud announced a five-year strategic partnership to accelerate Liberty Global's digital transformation and integrate AI across its European operations.

The partnership will bring Google's Gemini AI models to Liberty Global's approximately 80 million connections across Europe. Gemini models will be integrated into Liberty Global's Horizon TV platform to enhance content search and discovery capabilities and extend into customer service channels.

The collaboration focuses on three areas: AI-driven customer value, cloud optimization, and new growth opportunities. Liberty Global's brands including Virgin Media O2 in the UK, Telenet in Belgium, VodafoneZiggo in The Netherlands, Virgin Media in Ireland, and Sunrise in Switzerland will offer Google products such as Pixel devices, smart home products, Chromebooks, and YouTube Premium to customers.

Google Cloud will help Liberty Global develop autonomous network operations to detect performance issues and execute corrective actions while reducing manual interventions. The companies will also explore opportunities for Google Cloud services to run within Liberty Global's data centers to serve excess customer demand.

The partnership expands existing collaborations between the companies, including work with Liberty's portfolio businesses such as Atlas Edge, Formula E, and Liberty Blume. Formula E recently named Google Cloud as "Principal Partner" and "Official AI Partner" of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Liberty Global will work with Google Cloud on go-to-market initiatives targeting small and medium enterprises, offering cloud, cybersecurity, and AI services. The companies will also explore data monetization opportunities while maintaining security and privacy standards.

"Our expanded partnership with Google Cloud represents a significant milestone for Liberty Global as we continue to innovate and enhance the experiences we offer our customers," said Mike Fries, CEO of Liberty Global.
