Lantronix Inc. (NASDAQ: LTRX) announced a memorandum of understanding and master services agreement with Safe Pro Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAI) to develop AI-enabled defense and security solutions. The partnership will integrate Safe Pro's Object Threat Detection AI algorithms with Lantronix's Qualcomm-based system-on-module solutions.
The collaboration will deliver real-time detection of landmines and small threats without requiring cloud connectivity. Lantronix will integrate Safe Pro's SPOTD AI algorithms with its Open-Q System-on-Module solutions based on Qualcomm's QRB5165 System on Chip.
The companies plan to work on defense and commercial drone programs, including Red Cat Holdings' Teal Black Widow quadcopters used by the U.S. Army's Short-Range Reconnaissance program. The partnership will integrate SPOTD outputs into the U.S. Army's Android Tactical Assault Kit platform through Lantronix secure gateways.
"Lantronix is at the center of an expanding ecosystem in which payload, compute and connectivity come together to power the next generation of unmanned and autonomous systems," said Saleel Awsare, president and CEO of Lantronix.
Safe Pro Group Chairman Dan Erdberg said the partnership creates synergies for scaling proprietary computer vision technologies to meet defense user needs worldwide.
The Open-Q 5165RB System on Module measures 50mm x 29mm and includes Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, camera features and high-speed interfaces. The module supports Ubuntu Linux with Robot Operating System 2.0 and delivers 15 TOPS of AI processing power.
According to the companies, the global drone market is projected to reach $57.8 billion by 2030, based on Drone Industry Insights' 2025-2030 Global Drone Market Report.
