GitLab names Siva Padisetty as chief technology officer

GitLab Inc. (NASDAQ: GTLB) appointed Siva Padisetty as chief technology officer, effective January 15, 2026. Padisetty will lead the company's software engineering, operations, and customer support teams while overseeing product development and delivery.



Padisetty succeeds Sabrina Farmer, who stepped down from the role and will remain in an advisory capacity through January 31, 2026, to ensure a transition period.



The new CTO brings more than 20 years of experience in building and scaling distributed systems. He most recently served as CTO at New Relic, where he led the transformation of the company's monolith architecture into modern cloud services while the business scaled to over $1 billion in revenue.



Prior to New Relic, Padisetty spent more than eight years at Amazon Web Services, most recently as general manager of Cloud Management. He also worked 18 years at Microsoft. Throughout his career, he has led engineering teams that built and operated large-scale services.



"Siva is the engineer's CTO. He's spent his career building and scaling some of the most critical infrastructure platforms in the industry," said Bill Staples, GitLab chief executive officer.



Padisetty holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University in Chennai, India.



GitLab operates a DevSecOps platform and reports more than 50 million registered users. The company states that more than 50% of the Fortune 100 companies use its services.
