Gap Inc. (NYSE: GAP) announced a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to integrate artificial intelligence across its retail operations. The collaboration will apply AI technology to Gap's brands including Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta.

The partnership provides Gap with access to Google Cloud technologies including Gemini, Vertex AI, and BigQuery. Gap plans to use these tools across three main areas: product innovation, customer experience, and employee operations.

"AI is redefining what's possible in retail, and we're building our future technology roadmap around it," said Sven Gerjets, Chief Technology Officer at Gap Inc. "We believe this partnership gives us the expertise and speed to bring AI to life across our business."

For product development, Gap expects AI tools to accelerate design, planning, and pricing processes. The company aims to use AI for personalized shopping experiences and marketing optimization. Gap is already working with Google Ads to optimize campaign performance across channels.

In employee operations, Gap has begun implementing AI to support decision-making and execution processes. The company states this will allow teams to focus more on creativity and customer connections.

"Our partnership with Gap is about reinventing the retail landscape with AI and helping them lead the industry with speed, personalization, and game-changing customer experiences," said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.

The announcement includes forward-looking statements regarding Gap's technology strategy and expected benefits from the Google Cloud partnership, according to the company's press release.
