Firefly Aerospace (NASDAQ: FLY) announced the appointment of Ramon Sanchez as chief operating officer, effective December 22. Sanchez will oversee the company's daily operations and production scaling efforts for launch vehicles, lunar landers, and spacecraft.
The appointment aims to support Firefly's operational execution as the company works to meet growing customer demands. Sanchez will be responsible for enhancing safety, quality, and reliability across the company's production lines.
"Ramon has a proven track record of improving and upscaling complicated space production lines in heavy rockets, advanced missiles, and high-performance spacecraft constellations," said Jason Kim, CEO of Firefly Aerospace.
Sanchez brings more than two decades of production operations experience from his tenure at Boeing, spanning commercial, civil, and national security programs. He is also an Army veteran with experience across commercial, classified, and human spaceflight missions. His background includes work on heavy launch vehicles, space planes, satellite constellations, space payloads, and precision guided missiles.
"I look forward to building on the expertise of the team to drive factory stability, production harden systems, and execute on the commitments we've made to our shareholders and customers," Sanchez said.
In his new role, Sanchez will lead collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and reliability teams. The Cedar Park, Texas-based company develops launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles for government and commercial customers.
