Investing.com -- Shares of financial services companies declined on Thursday after Anthropic introduced a new version of its most powerful AI model designed for financial research.
FactSet shares dropped as much as 10%, while Moody's Corp fell 2.9% and S&P Global Inc slumped 4.7%.
Anthropic unveiled Claude Opus 4.6, which the company says can analyze company data, regulatory filings, and market information to produce detailed financial analyses that would typically require days of human work.
The new AI model is also designed to improve other workplace functions, including creating spreadsheets and presentations, as well as software development.
This release comes just days after Anthropic's expansion into legal services affected stocks of established software companies in that sector.
Anthropic currently serves more than 300,000 business customers who use its models to streamline workplace tasks, particularly in computer programming where its Claude Code has become a market leader.
