Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) announced a strategic partnership with LotusFlare, a California-based telecommunications software company, and acquired a minority stake in the firm. The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of network application programming interfaces for communication service providers.

LotusFlare, founded in 2014 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, employs 500 people globally. The company's DNO Cloud platform provides consent management and digital commerce solutions that enable network API exposure and monetization of advanced network capabilities.

The companies will develop common solution blueprints describing typical integration scenarios for network API exposure layers, including API access and consent management. These solutions will complement Ericsson's existing portfolio for communication service providers to expose and monetize advanced network capabilities through APIs.

"The combination of Ericsson's high-performance, programmable networks with LotusFlare's Network Abstraction capabilities, Aduna's global network API aggregation capabilities, and Vonage's network powered enterprise solutions will accelerate CSPs' ability to unlock new network capabilities," said Niklas Heuveldop, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform at Ericsson.

Sam Gadodia, CEO and Co-Founder of LotusFlare, stated that Ericsson's investment validates the company's product innovation and market impact. LotusFlare operates two main businesses: DNO Cloud and Nomad eSIM, which provides data plans in over 200 destinations for travelers.

Vonage, part of Ericsson, will leverage the accelerated supply of APIs to enable developers and enterprises to build network-powered solutions. The companies did not disclose financial details of the transaction.
