Ecopetrol elects new board members for 2025-2029 term
Ecopetrol S.A. (BVC: ECOPETROL; NYSE: EC) announced that shareholders approved the election of nine board members during an extraordinary shareholders' meeting held February 5, 2026.
The meeting, chaired by Germán Ávila, Colombia's Minister of Finance and Public Credit, addressed several agenda items with the board election receiving 95.18% approval from shareholders.
The newly elected board members for the remainder of the 2025-2029 term include five independent directors: Ángela María Robledo Gómez, Carolina Arias Hurtado, Hildebrando Vélez Galeano, Ricardo Rodriguez Yee, and Luis Felipe Henao Cardona. Four non-independent directors were also elected: Juan Gonzalo Castaño Valderrama, Lilia Tatiana Roa Avendaño, Alberto José Merlano Alcocer, and César Eduardo Loza Arenas.
Shareholders also approved the meeting agenda with 99.97% support and appointed committee chairs for elections, vote counting, and minutes review. The Elections and Vote Counting Committee was proposed by shareholder Carolina María Zarama, while Amparo del Pilar González proposed the Minutes Review and Approval Committee.
The board election faced the most opposition among the agenda items, with 4.82% of shareholders voting against the proposed slate. Other agenda items received approval rates exceeding 99.94%.
