Design Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: DSGN) appointed Justin Gover to its board of directors, effective immediately, the clinical-stage biotechnology company announced.
Gover brings more than 25 years of biotechnology industry leadership experience. He served as founding chief executive officer of GW Pharmaceuticals plc for over two decades, leading the company from inception through its $7 billion acquisition by Jazz Pharmaceuticals in 2021. Under his leadership, GW developed and commercialized Epidiolex (cannabidiol), approved in the U.S. and Europe for treating childhood onset epilepsies.
The appointment coincides with the departure of Dr. Arsani William, managing partner and chief investment officer of Logos Capital, who stepped down from the board on September 9, 2025. William joined the board in 2021 and provided guidance during the company's initial public offering and clinical pipeline advancement.
"Justin brings a deep understanding of our industry and a focus on executional excellence to the Board at this important time for Design," said Pratik Shah, chairperson and chief executive officer of Design Therapeutics.
Gover currently serves on the boards of Compass Pathways plc (NASDAQ: CMPS) and Xenon Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: XENE). He previously served on the board of directors of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization from 2018 to 2021. Gover holds an MBA from INSEAD business school in France and a BSc from Bristol University.
Design Therapeutics develops treatments for degenerative genetic diseases using its GeneTAC platform of gene targeted chimera small molecules. The company's clinical-stage programs include DT-216P2 for Friedreich ataxia and DT-168 for Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy.
