DEFSEC Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: DFSC) announced the commercial release of its Lightning real-time situational awareness system designed for critical incident response teams. The cloud-hosted platform enables coordination between emergency responders through shared operational mapping and communication tools.

The system builds on Team Awareness Kit software used by U.S. and Canadian military forces. Lightning provides real-time location tracking, secure multimedia communications, and integration of data from various sources including drones and surveillance cameras on a unified interface accessible through existing smart devices.

"Following the early adoption and onboarding of our first subscription customer, an Ontario border police agency, we are pleased to announce today the commercial release of DEFSEC Lightning along with a compelling scaled pricing model aligned with public safety mission requirements," said Sean Homuth, DEFSEC President and CEO.

The platform includes specialized applications for ground search and rescue operations, sniper and surveillance activities, and automated responder notification within defined geographic areas. The system operates without requiring dedicated hardware or software installation.

DEFSEC offers Lightning on a subscription basis ranging from CAD $15 to $50 per end-user device monthly, depending on configuration and scale. The company estimates the addressable market for sworn police officers in the U.S. and Canada at approximately 779,000 officers, representing a potential CAD $140 million to $467 million annual recurring revenue opportunity.

The total North American first responder market, including fire and emergency medical services, encompasses approximately 2.5 million uniformed personnel, representing an estimated CAD $450 million to $1.5 billion annual opportunity according to the company.

DEFSEC currently serves the public safety sector through its ARWEN less-lethal product line deployed across Canadian and U.S. law enforcement agencies. The company also indicated potential defense applications for Lightning, including Canadian Armed Forces and joint Arctic operations.
