Cipher Digital, Fluidstack, and Anthropic pledge $10M for Texas water

September 14, 2026 5:03 PM EDT

Cipher Digital Inc. (NASDAQ: CIFR), Fluidstack Ltd., and Anthropic have committed a combined $10 million to repair and expand the water system in Colorado City, Texas, according to a press release from the companies.

The funds will be administered through a newly formed nonprofit, the Colorado City Water Infrastructure Foundation, established exclusively by the three companies. The foundation will coordinate with Colorado City's mayor, city manager, and contracted engineers to carry out projects identified by city leaders, including additional water storage capacity and replacing aging valves.

The announcement follows a July storm that damaged the city's well pump station, leaving residents without reliable water for several days. Colorado City has also faced chronic water outages linked to aging infrastructure and severe weather.

The companies operate the Barber Lake data center near Colorado City. According to the press release, that facility runs on its own on-site water supply and draws no water from the city's municipal system.

"When we welcomed these companies to our community, they told us they would be good neighbors," said Colorado City Mayor Ruben Hurt. "This $10 million contribution for critical repairs to our local water system demonstrates they meant every word."

Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows credited the contribution to the companies' commitment to the region. "This donation for Colorado City's water infrastructure will strengthen the region's water future while demonstrating a commitment to the Texans who call this community home," he said.

Tyler Page, Cipher's chief executive officer, said the investment was intended to benefit the community long-term. "Being a good neighbor means showing up for the issues that matter most to the communities where we operate, even when those issues predate us," he said.
