Cibus Inc. (NASDAQ: CBUS) announced the election of Kimberly A. Box to its board of directors. The agricultural technology company develops plant traits designed to increase crop yields and reduce farming costs.

Box previously served as president and chief executive officer of Gatekeeper Innovation Inc., leading the company until its acquisition by RxGuardian. She spent nearly three decades at Hewlett-Packard, advancing to vice president of Global IT Services, where she managed large-scale technology operations.

The appointment comes as Cibus prepares for initial product launches of its gene editing platform for agricultural applications. The company uses precision gene editing and breeding systems to develop plant traits.

"Kim brings to Cibus extensive leadership experience in technology and commercialization that will be invaluable as we sharpen our strategic commercialization efforts," said Mark Finn, Cibus chairman, according to a company statement.

Box currently serves on the boards of McGrath RentCorp (NASDAQ: MGRC), Med One Group, and Applied Science Inc. She previously served on the board of American River Bank until its acquisition in 2021.

Box holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, Chico, and completed executive development programs at The Wharton School. She maintains certifications from the National Association of Corporate Directors and in cybersecurity oversight from Carnegie Mellon University.

The company stated that Box was recognized in the NACD Directorship 100, which identifies corporate directors with significant impact on boardroom practices. She previously chaired the NACD Northern California Chapter Board.
