Century Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: IPSC) has appointed Joseph Truitt to its board of directors, the biotechnology company announced.
Truitt currently serves as chief executive officer and board member of iECURE, Inc., a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on genome-editing therapies. He also serves as chairman of the board of Larimar Therapeutics (NASDAQ: LRMR) and as a board member of Code Biotherapeutics.
Previously, Truitt was chief executive officer of BioSpecifics Technologies Corp. until its acquisition by Endo International plc in December 2020. Before that, he held several roles at Achillion Pharmaceuticals, including chief commercial officer, chief operating officer, and chief executive officer, prior to the company's acquisition by Alexion Pharmaceuticals in January 2020. Truitt holds an MBA from Saint Joseph's University and a BS from La Salle University.
Brent Pfeiffenberger, chief executive officer of Century Therapeutics, said Truitt's experience "building teams and infrastructure across geographies will be a valuable resource for Century" as the company advances its pipeline programs.
Century stated that CNTY-813, an iPSC-derived islet replacement therapy for type 1 diabetes, is on track for an investigational new drug (IND) submission to the FDA in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company also said CNTY-308, a CD19-targeted CAR-iT cell therapy for B-cell-mediated diseases, is anticipated to enter clinical trials in 2026.
