Capgemini announced it has been selected by TELUS to support the Canadian telecommunications company's network automation initiative. The partnership focuses on modernizing TELUS's proprietary network-automation platform to enable autonomous network operations.
The collaboration aims to transform TELUS's network from manual, rules-based operations to intent-based and closed-loop systems. These autonomous networks are designed to detect anomalies, predict equipment failures, and resolve issues in real-time, according to the press release.
"TELUS is continually evolving its network to deliver the best possible experiences for its customers," said Tim Fell, Vice-President, Wireline Technology & Services at TELUS. "This partnership with Capgemini builds on our strong foundation in network automation, enabling us to unlock new capabilities and take the next step forward on the path to autonomous network operations."
Through this engagement, Capgemini in Canada will help TELUS achieve faster updates, greater scalability, and lower infrastructure costs while working to improve customer experience and network reliability.
Tom Mosseau, Managing Director of Capgemini in Canada, stated the agreement demonstrates the company's commitment to driving transformation in telecommunications. "Together with TELUS, we are pioneering the future of autonomous networks. Capgemini's AI expertise and capabilities will help TELUS become more agile and deliver real value for its customers."
According to a Capgemini Research Institute report, 84% of telecom operators currently operate at low levels of autonomy, while 61% aim to reach Level 3 or higher autonomy by 2028. At Level 3, networks can increasingly self-monitor, self-optimize, and self-heal across defined domains.
The information is based on a press release statement from Capgemini.
