Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) announced that Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) has selected the company as a strategic vendor for virtualization software solutions. The collaboration centers on deploying VMware Cloud Foundation to create a modern private cloud and edge environment for Walmart's global operations.

The partnership aims to unify Walmart's distributed operations through Broadcom's VMware Cloud Foundation platform. According to the companies, the deployment will focus on four areas: enhanced agility and scalability for changing customer needs, reduced operational complexity through streamlined infrastructure, simplified workload portability across virtual machines and containers, and improved security through automated patching and immutable snapshots.

VCF will help Walmart optimize resources and accelerate the rollout of innovative new services that benefit customers and associates worldwide."

The announcement was made at VMware Explore 2025 in Las Vegas. Walmart operates more than 10,750 stores and eCommerce websites across 19 countries, serving approximately 270 million customers weekly. The retailer reported fiscal year 2025 revenue of $681 billion.
