BetterLife Pharma names Richard Lipton as SAB co-chair
BetterLife Pharma Inc. (CSE: BETR, OTCQB: BETRF, FSE: NPAU) has appointed Professor Richard B. Lipton, MD, as co-chair of its Scientific Advisory Board, the company announced in a press release dated October 19, 2026.
Dr. Lipton holds the Edwin S. Lowe Chair in Neurology and serves as vice chair of the Saul R. Korey Department of Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is also director of the Montefiore Headache Center in New York and a past president of the American Headache Society. He has authored more than 1,200 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Lipton joins Professor Peter Goadsby, MD, PhD, FRS, whose co-chair appointment was announced on October 14, 2026. Both will oversee the SAB for BETR-001, the company's investigational compound for chronic cluster headache and chronic migraine. BETR-001 is a non-hallucinogenic derivative of 2-bromo-lysergic acid diethylamide and has not been approved by any regulatory authority.
"Many people with chronic migraine keep having frequent attacks after trying several preventive treatments, including the newer CGRP-targeted therapies," Dr. Lipton said. "Those patients need new options, and they need clinical trials built around outcomes that matter in their daily lives."
In connection with the appointment, BetterLife has agreed to grant Dr. Lipton stock options to purchase 500,000 common shares, with quarterly vesting over 24 months and a 10-year term. The exercise price will be set in accordance with Canadian Securities Exchange policies.
