Bakkt appoints Mike Alfred to board of directors

Bakkt Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: BKKT) announced the appointment of Mike Alfred to its board of directors, according to a company statement.
Alfred is a private investor and board director who co-founded BrightScope, which was acquired by Strategic Insight, and Digital Assets Data, acquired by NYDIG. He currently serves as founder and managing partner of Alpine Fox LP, a private investment fund focused on Bitcoin and AI-related equities. Alfred also sits on the board of IREN (NASDAQ: IREN) and serves as a director at Eaglebrook Advisors, Wealthie, and Crestone Group.
"Mike's proven track record and reputation in the digital asset and fintech ecosystem brings unparalleled expertise, a powerful network and institutional credibility," said Akshay Naheta, CEO of Bakkt.
Alfred stated he was "honored to join Bakkt's Board as the Company enters its next phase of growth" and cited the company's opportunity in digital asset trading, stablecoin payments, AI agents and Bitcoin.
Founded in 2018, Bakkt provides institutional-grade trading and digital asset onramp capabilities for clients. The company is headquartered in New York.
