August 20, 2025 6:30 AM UTC

BIT Mining Limited (NYSE: BTCM) announced plans to rebrand as SOLAI Limited with a new ticker symbol SLAI, reflecting the company's strategic shift toward the Solana blockchain ecosystem. The cryptocurrency mining company's board of directors resolved to pursue the name change, subject to shareholder approval.

The company will hold an extraordinary general meeting on October 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. New York time in Akron, Ohio, where shareholders will vote on the proposed English name change. Shareholders of record as of August 25, 2025, are entitled to vote at the meeting.

"Becoming SOLAI marks the next chapter in our journey to providing the best value for our shareholders," said Bo Yu, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. "We will establish a global financial infrastructure powered by AI, driven by transparency, and optimized for capital efficiency."

BIT Mining has expanded its operations in the Solana ecosystem, launching a validator node and staking SOL tokens as part of a $300 million ecosystem strategy. The company describes itself as evolving from a cryptocurrency miner into a broader digital assets company focused on blockchain infrastructure and decentralized finance.

The proposed SOLAI name combines SOL, derived from Latin for sun, with Solana's vision and AI technology, according to the company's statement. BIT Mining operates cryptocurrency mining and blockchain infrastructure services, with plans to expand across multiple blockchain platforms beyond Solana.

Holders of American Depositary Shares who wish to vote must act through Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas, the depositary for the company's ADS program. The company filed its annual report on Form 20-F for fiscal year 2024 with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 29, 2025.
