Alfa Laval (Stockholm: ALFA) and Lund University announced a strategic partnership on Oct. 30 to strengthen collaboration and drive innovation across multiple disciplines.

The partnership builds on existing collaboration between the Swedish industrial company and the university's various faculties, including the School of Economics and Management and Faculty of Engineering. The agreement creates a structured alliance under the Triple Helix model, which brings together industry, academia and the public sector.

The collaboration will include initiatives such as master theses, climate action hackathons and mini-credential programs. The partnership aims to engage all university faculties in research and innovation projects, from in-depth studies to large-scale infrastructure initiatives.

"This is an important strategic cooperation agreement in which we will work together to develop new technologies for energy transition, digitalization and sustainability," said Erik Renström, Vice-Chancellor of Lund University.

Tom Erixon, CEO and President of Alfa Laval, stated that the partnership will "strengthen the important interface between academic research and industry application – ensuring that groundbreaking discoveries can be rapidly adapted to meet real-world needs."

Both organizations will provide dedicated resources and implement a unified governance model for the partnership. Lund University, founded in 1666, has approximately 46,000 students and 8,600 staff members across four locations in Sweden.

Alfa Laval reported annual sales of SEK 66.9 billion in 2024 and employs more than 22,300 people globally. The company provides heat transfer, separation and fluid handling products and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.
