Alexander Dennis wins £57m Liverpool bus contract for 207 vehicles

Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (TSX: NFI, OTC: NFYEF, TSX: NFI.DB), has secured a £57m contract to supply at least 207 low and zero-emission buses to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, according to a press release from the company.

The firm order covers 117 low-emission Enviro400 double-deckers, 60 low-emission Enviro200 single-deckers, and 30 zero-emission Enviro100EV buses. The contract includes options for additional vehicles that, if fully exercised, would raise the total to 357 buses at a value of £95m.

All buses will be built or completed in Britain and delivered in 2027 for use on the region's 'Metro' bus network. The new order brings the total number of buses Alexander Dennis has supplied to Liverpool City Region's franchised fleet to approximately 400, including 109 Enviro200 currently being delivered and 58 Enviro400EV procured under an earlier contract.

The low-emission Enviro400 and Enviro200 models will use Alexander Dennis's SmartPack technology, which the company states reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 18% to 24% compared with conventional Euro V diesel buses, based on Zemo Partnership testing. The buses may be converted to electric operation through Alexander Dennis's AD Repower service.

"We are delighted that the Liverpool City Region found our bids to be the most commercially advantageous in four of the six lots available in this latest procurement," said Matthew Lawrence, Head of Franchising & Bids for Alexander Dennis. "Work will soon begin to build these buses in our UK factories in the North of England and Scotland."

The first tranche of Liverpool City Region's franchised bus services is scheduled to begin in St Helens and the Wirral on September 6, 2026.
