UBS analyst Joshua Spector downgraded Chemours (NYSE: CC) from Buy to Neutral with a price target of $18.00 (from $29.00).
The analyst comments: “We downgrade CC to Neutral from Buy. Recent results leave us with more questions around the right level of earnings of Chemours' refrigerant business (TSS) following larger destocking and we believe some share loss in 2026. Chemours is making progress in TiO2 and adv materials, so higher 2H26 means earnings should be higher in 2027. However, execution remains choppy, refrigerants is a lower contributor to growth, and our thesis on TiO2 structural improvement is not playing out as we expected.
The main change in our view is a normalization in CC's TSS earnings in 2026 removes ~2 years of growth vs what we had in our model (~11% EBITDA reduction). Our 2027 EBITDA declines to $985M, similar to cons. Our conviction has come down and we see up/downside risks depending on how volumes and costs play out.”
