Demand for Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) recently launched iPhone 6 and 6 Plus continue to exceed supply, according to a new smartphone surveys from Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley.
The survey indicated the iPhone 6/ 6 Plus were by far the top selling smartphones at all four tier-1 U.S carriers and at virtually all channels where these devices were available. However, supply is very limited. The iPhone 6 Plus was out of stock at all four tier-1 U.S. carriers with typical wait times of 2-3 weeks or more. The surveys indicated very limited availability for the iPhone 6 at AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile with typical wait times of 7+ days
In addition, the survey indicated steady demand for the legacy iPhone 5s with the device continuing to sell well at the $100 subsidized price point.
"We believe the larger screen iPhones could result in very strong 1H/F2015 high-end smartphone market share gains," the analyst said. "In fact, we have lowered our Android smartphone estimates due to our surveys indicating strong iPhone share gains."
The firm is maintaining Q1/Q2 F’15 iPhone shipment estimates of 63M/53.6M units. In China, Apple could ship up
to 18M iPhone 6 Plus units in the Dec Q versus our prior 10M estimate as Apple ramps iPhone 6 Plus supply.
Also, the firm is maintain their above consensus Dec Q iPhone ASP of $680, and believe a stronger mix of the iPhone 6 Plus could provide upside to their estimates.
