StoneX analyst Nathan Martin reiterated a Buy rating and $335.00 price target on Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP).
The analyst commented, "Union Pacific (UNP) reported 3Q adjusted EPS of $3.53, beating our $3.50 estimate and the $3.47 consensus driven by higher revenues. Record top-line results benefitted from a 9-point fuel surcharge tailwind, but intermodal volumes also increased 11% y/y and industrial carloads were an all-time best. Importantly, despite the incremental business, UNP once again set new quarterly operational records for workforce productivity, train length, and fuel efficiency. Looking ahead, management raised its FY26 capex target by $200M to $3.5B, reflecting the decision to accelerate projects given current network performance. On the other hand, while the core OR is still anticipated to improve y/y, fuel will likely make it difficult to lower the reported OR. All other targets were maintained, including high single digit EPS growth relative to last year’s $11.98 result. As for the merger, management remains extremely confident in its merits and believes approval will come sometime in 2H27. Regardless of the outcome, we believe business opportunities, productivity gains, and strong service should continue to drive growth in 2027. We reiterate our Buy and $335 target."
