Nomura Securities on Hardlines Retail by Aram Rubinson
Rubinson said, "An EPS preview of Lowe's (NYSE: LOW), Home Depot (NYSE: HD), Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS), PetSmart (Nasdaq: PETM), Dollar Tree (Nasdaq: DLTR). We raise DLTR estimates and target price. We are witnessing, in our view, pronounced separation among competitors—even within the same segment. Many of the stocks seem to be bracing for a recession that will not be apparent in Q2 results. We expect most stocks to trade up as investors realize that valuations are meaningfully more drastic than fundamentals. Our highest conviction call for Q2 is DLTR. We raised our Q2 EPS estimate to $0.79 (up from $0.76), $0.04 ahead of consensus, and our target price to $78 from $72."
