Goldman Sachs analyst Kate McShane reiterated a Neutral rating and $161.00 price target on Target (NYSE: TGT).

The analyst comments "In this note, we update our Target sentiment analysis, looking at social media sentiment and HundredX data over time following the boycott early last year. Overall, social media sentiment inflected lower in the last month and a half, with a key driver being a controversial Halloween costume and boycott-related messaging. On the other hand, NPI and NPS continue to show signs of improvement, while both metrics are tracking below historical trends. Given the amount of change and investment Target spoke to at its March Investor Day, we also continue to monitor the store for any changes to the floor, brands, and merchandising. Our takeaways following the Target Beauty Studio launch on 9/10/26 can be found in our recent note, linked here. We remain Neutral on Target given that while the company faces relatively easy compares in 2H26 and continues to execute on new merchandising ideas, the competitive landscape remains challenging. In FY27, Target will likely be lapping the FY26 top-line benefit from tax refunds and new product ideas while keeping certain higher costs, such as incremental labor costs and increased spend on merchandising and technology, likely putting its longer-term earnings algorithm at risk."
