Shares of Brocade Communications (NASDAQ: BRCD) rose 1.7% Monday after hedge fund Elliott Associates disclosed a 9.8%, or 47,912,000 share, stake in the company in a 13D filing after the close Friday. This is up significantly from the 1,626,000 shares held at the end of the latest quarter ending June 30, 2011.
The firm said they may express their views to management, the Board of Directors of the Issuer, other shareholders or third parties. These views may include expressing the thoughts or suggestions with respect to the strategy and plans of the company as a means of enhancing shareholder value.
